Adele Fornarino capped off her 2024 year that saw her double gold at ADCC Worlds 2024 with a championship-winning match via submission at WNO 25 at the Bayou Center in Houston on Dec. 4.

There are a lot of great reasons to tune into WNO 25 this week, from grapplers proving they can stand on top of the world and claim a championship title to up-and-comers looking to prove themselves on the grand stage that is the 25th edition of the greatest grappling event series in the world: Who's Number One.

Adele Fornarino vs Sophia Cassella will be the third to last card of the night at WNO 25 for the WNO Women's Strawweight Championship, leading into headliners Kaynan Duarte vs Roberto Jimenez in the main card heavyweight bout.

The ADCC Women's -55kg division showcases a lineup of elite grapplers from around the globe, each bringing a unique set of skills and accolades to the mat. ADCC World Championships 2024 begins at 1:00 p.m. EDT, with matches beginning at 1:45 p.m. EDT.

When Adele Fornarino first competed at ADCC, she approached it with excitement and curiosity. "I was really happy to be there, excited to compete, and had never really been exposed to that level of competition," she recalls.

The ADCC World Championships are nearly here and 2024 will be one of the most exciting years for the women's divisions ever. The tournament has expanded from two to three divisions and will feature an absolute bracket for eight standouts to compete in. The -55kg division is set to feature eight of the best from around the world who will clash to figure out who will write their names in the history books.

Australia is one of grappling's growing hotbeds and over the last ten years or so has really emerged, especially in no-gi and ADCC-style competitions. That's in part because of the way ADCC does their Trials, with Oceanic and Asian competitors getting their own regional competition without the North or South Americans - meaning that Australians get a more direct path to qualifying for Worlds.
