With 2024 coming to a close, it's time to reflect on one of the biggest years in grappling history. There was so much great action and so many elite athletes putting on incredible performances that we expanded our pool of nominees to eight - eight men who exemplified the highest level of the sport.

Mayssa Bastos was able to retain her ONE Atomweight Championship by decision, defeating former champion Danielle Kelly in a rematch. The two exchanges leg locks to begin the match, before trading positional attacks back and forth for the majority of the match. The most decisive exchange came late with Bastos transitioning her way to a deep inside heel hook that got her the deciding criteria to keep her belt.

The ADCC West Coast Trials are going down in Las Vegas, Nevada this weekend from March 30-31 at the Westgate Hotel. The event will feature 1,000 athletes from the world's top gyms and academies competing to secure a spot at ADCC World Championships.

The bout will be on the main card of Tezos WNO 19: Meregali vs Duarte presented by Fat Tire on Thursday, August 10 in Austin, TX at the Palmer Event Center.

With continued success on and off the mats, the Pedigo Submission Fighting crew at Daisy Fresh has begun to outgrow the laundromat in which the team was born. The Wiltse brothers, Andrew and Bird, have now purchased a house, upgrading their living situation and providing them with a space to further their journey in content creation and production of instructional videos. Back for its third and final season, Daisy Fresh: An American Jiu-Jitsu Story's first episode opened on a fiery note. Following the journey of Pedigo Submission Fighting and its meteoric rise in competitive jiu-jitsu, season three begins in the weeks leading up to the 2021 Who's Number One Championship, where Andrew Wiltse is set to compete in the middleweight division. Due to injury, Wiltse has to drop from the competition; rising colored-belt star Jacob "the Hillbilly Hammer" Couch replaces Wiltse in the competition in the eleventh hour.

Eliza Nascimento added two more gold medals to her IBJJF 2023 Grand Slam campaign at Pans, securing double gold at the blue belt ranks with nine submissions in as many matches.

In December 2017 we dropped a photo essay about an unknown team from Mt. Vernon, Illinois called Pedigo Submission Fighting. The images of the athletes living in the closed down laundromat fascinated the jiu-jitsu fans and this went on to be one of the most viewed articles in FloGrappling history at that time. The 2022 IBJJF Pan No-Gi Championship kicked off on Friday in Garland, Texas. Brown belts and blue belts took the mats before the black belts begin on Saturday and then conclude on Sunday.

The IBJJF No-Gi Pan Championships are just one week away, and will attract decorated, well-known and rising black belt talents from across the world of no-gi grappling. But many of the year’s newest stars won't be competing on Saturday and Sunday with the black belts; instead, they’ll be competing on Friday, in a sea of talented brown belts looking to break into the top ranks.
