Finals
Here we go. Both men wrestlers by pedigree, and showing it from the feet. Stopping to fix an early clock malfunction. This match is twice as long, twenty minutes with a ten minute no-points and potential overtime. We're back. Josh reaches for a high crotch, stuck in a front headlock for Deandre and a reattack single. Josh keeps his balance until a small reset to center lets Deandre knock him down into a knee shield. Josh inverts under. Deandre drops into a straight ankle. Josh rolls but right into a kneebar - Deandre wins!He looked amazing, beat the world number one and finished it all off by submission in the final.
Deandre Corbe def. Josh Cisneros by submission (kneebar) in 4:58
They have a nominal bronze match but Pato opts not to compete so Ethan takes third by walkover.
Semifinals
Our second semifinal here, Ethan Crelinsten and Josh Cisneros. Rematch from ADCC 2022, Josh won that by armbar in OT. Good wrestling up top here, both men moving well. Josh picks an ankle and ends up on top. He's working for the knee cut, trying to slide around the side and shoot back in for the side/north south. He nearly goes black hole, keeps the arm, and falls back into a triangle. Now it's an omoplata, Ethan stacks and defends the leg entry from Josh. Lots of action for 3 minutes. Ethan passes by a two on one and gets to rear standing, they scramble down and he has the seatbelt. Josh cuts the angle back and squares up - they are standing again neutral. Points are on now. Josh hits a double, Ethan turtles, Josh hunting the back. He has hooks in! That scores 3 for him with 4 minutes left. Ethan turns in quickly, he is on top of closed guard and has 4 minutes to work. Josh is able to bleed a long time off the clock here in closed guard, now it's two minutes left and Ethan breaks it open. On the feet. Josh shoots, we scramble and he lands on top and gets two more with a minute left. Ethan still working so Josh just jumps closed guard in transition. He will do it, Josh advances to face Deandre for the grand prize.
Josh Cisneros def. Ethan Crelinsten by points (5-0) in regulation
Here we go, semifinals of the $100k tournament. Pato vs Deandre. Pato pulls. Deandre working from top, mixing it up, but Pato gets a little too grippy from bottom and Deandre falls to the safety of bottom position. Now he's in X guard, breaks Pato's balance and comes back up. 7:30 left. Pato still hunting legs, now Deandre sits to play legs too. Pato drops to an achilles lock and is really horsing on it but Deandre stays safe enough. They clear. Pato now on top, Deandre back to his X guard. He does a great job breaking balance again and sits Pato down. We are in double seated and into points. Both men hunting leg entanglements but not finding much purchase. More inversions coming into play, now Deandre is into an inside ashi. Pato clears with a roll. They've been in double pull the first three minutes of points. 2 minutes left. We are going to go to OT. Deandre likely has the wrestling advantage, but Pato is the number one guy for a reason. They're hand fighting. Pato shoots and he is stuck in a front headlock. Deandre spins with a knee block, now he's in top turtle holding a seatbelt. Pato escapes that, and he is now playing guard. Good guard pull there eventually from Pato, but Deandre had a good look at the back for a moment. Deandre tries to back step into the legs for a moment but thinks better of it. Deandre loose passing, now he's into some double unders and stacking. Pato retains. It's going to be another close decision here to determine our first finalist. Keep in mind we have genuine ADCC officials here judging by their rule set, which favors initiations. That's time. Let's see... Debating a long time... Wow they go with Deandre, world #1 Pato loses!
Deandre Corbe def. Diego Pato dy decision
- #1 Diego Pato vs #7 Deandre Corbe
- #10 Josh Cisneros vs #3 Ethan Crelinsten
Quarterfinals
Canadians going at it here, Ethan Crelinsten and Max in our final quarter. About a minute in, Max pulls. Ethan snatches a headlock and passes for a second but Max reguards. Now Max uses an inversion to get a nice grab around the leg and Ethan just accepts bottom position to recover guard. Ethan inverts back on him and follows his own leg lock back up to top and he manages to staple down one of Max's legs on his way to a body lock. There's the pass using the body lock. He's in a deep leg drag position, 6 and a half left. Ethan uses that to move to turtle, he has the back. Now he locks the body triangle and surgically into the rear naked choke for the tap. Great, great performance from Ethan.
Ethan Crelinsten def. Max Hanson by submission (rear naked choke) in 5:11
Gianni and Josh in a big quarter. Gianni pulls, working his DLR. He keeps trying to scoot the angle for a deep DLR, likely to move around to the back. Cisneros starting to do more to clear grips and pressure in with knee cuts. Points active now, it's been mid-range guard engagements from both men but nothing crazy. Now Cisneros hops onto the double unders, ducks around to side control, but Grippo scrambles out. Good moment from Josh, lot of energy there from Gianni. More guard engagements, Gianni closes the guard. One minute left here. Gianni knocks him down with a muscle sweep and then enters the leg as Josh stands back up. Josh limp legs out. We are into OT, Cisneros has the wrestling edge and seems to have led the dance so far. Gianni standing and hand fighting. One minute in, Josh goes to a single and cuts back to sit Gianni down. Gianni turtles and Josh parks on top with some crab hooks. He rolls and snatches the bottom hook with a high ball ride (ankles crossed on the back but only one hook). Gianni does a great job fighting that off and escaping. He doesn't give up points, he can now play guard, but he is almost certainly behind in a decision. 90 seconds. Gianni going hard on a straight armlock from bottom, but Josh slips it. Now he is picking up the pace with attacks up and down the body and Cisneros doing much more reacting. We're gonna go to a decision here.
Josh Cisneros def. Gianni Grippo by decision
Kade Tsitos and Deandre Corbe now. Kade has committed more to his wrestling in this event, he's often an immediate puller. Deandre grabs the single leg and Kade accepts bottom position. Deandre passes to top half guard and is now tight passing and pressuring. He snatches the body lock before points become active and mounts almost immediately after. That's a 3-0 lead for him with 4:30 left. Kade kips his way free and we are back wrestling. Kade will likely need to at least find the back if he wants to win. Two minutes. Corbe back to the single but Kade clears. Corbe was able to manage this match very well on the way to victory.
Deandre Corbe def. Kade Tsitos by points (3-0) in regulation
Right into the quarters! Pato vs Gavin. Pato pulls but Gavin drops back and Pato comes up to top. Gavin enters outside ashi and clamps on an outside heel hook but Pato slips the foot.Pato falls back to trade leg entanglements, they move to 50/50 but then are out, just pummeling now. Points active now. Gavin looking legs, Pato moves around to expose the back but he's still low - but climbing. He moves up but Gavin finds a late path to turn into the closed guard and now he's on top. He breaks free of the closed guard, three minutes remain. Gavin working hard from knee cuts and he's going to spend the last few minutes of the match pressuring but not getting to a passing position. OT and we are on the feet. Not Pato's best position. Gavin snaps to front headlock, he spins to the back and snatches a cradle along the way. Pato in turtle/4 point, then rolls to guard. K guard is the focus for Pato, he's having trouble getting much started compared to usual. Gavin working hard from top, Pato wrestles up on a leg entanglement and nearly puts Gavin down but can't - and sits back down immediately. 3 minutes, in the balance. Pato works false reap, ends up in a waiter position for a minute but Gavin clears out. He's surfing well. 1 minute. Gavin working his loose passes, Pato trying to entangle from bottom. That's all, we go to decision here.

Round One
Max and Julián will close things out here. This is the lone ranked on ranked matchup in round one, expect some high level work. Julián pulls, Max happy to work from top. Both guys feeling it out. Max moves in with an underhook and Julián butterfly sweeps his way to top. Max happy to work from bottom though and he wrestles his way back to top and is body locking, both men are very comfortable everywhere things have gone. Seems like they both had the idea that this could go a full 15 minutes and they need to pace some. Julián wrestles his way back to top now, Max into the false reap but Julián counters around. He's got a trapped leg cross ashi, similar to Nicky Ryan-JT Torres. He passes the leg over to an inside heel hook. Max is having to hand fight every attempt, he's in deep water here. Points are live. Julián finally clears out after he can't finish and decides to change it up. Back to action. Max working from seated guard, tries to wrestle up but they blow off the mat. Back to Max seated (but heisting often), Julián passing. Max into the shoulder crunch, short time, Julián clears and we head to OT. Back to the feet. Both men wrestling hard, Max working from underhooks. Julián goes for a hip toss, Max counters and he ends up on the back to score! He's up 3-0 with the body triangle. 2 minutes left. Things will end here, Max advances in a tough one.
Max Hanson def. Julián Espinosa by points (3-0) in OT
Ethan Crelinsten and Reese Lafever are up now, very excited for this one. Ethan is quick to his double unders and uses that to get Reese down. Lafever enters single leg X, then outside ashi. Ethan wants to move to leg drag but Ethan keeping the achilles grip. Reese moves into an outside heel hook with a serious bite on it but Ethan does clear. Reese making a good account of himself but finally Ethan clears and is back to a solid pressuring knee weave from top. Now Reese inverts onto that leg and into a cross ashi but Ethan still mostly smashing it with base on that knee. Reese turtles with a scoop on the leg but Ethan stopping him with a three quarter nelson grip on the head. Technical stuff. Reese does knock him down from the cross ashi but Ethan uses that to roll to 50/50. Points are now live, Ethan on top and Reese on bottom of 50/50. Ethan finally gets his leg out and he's back to knee cutting. He pressures through the legs but Reese turtles, Ethan follows and they are by the edge and Ethan locks that body triangle. He will score that for 3. 90 seconds left. That's how it'll end, Crelinsten advances off the back of his pressure game.
Ethan Crelinsten def. Reese Lafever by points (3-0) in regulation
Gianni Grippo facing Werther Marciales next. Grippo pulls, playing from his De La Riva. Werther sits and he's rolling around looking to entangle legs too. Gianni comes up to play top. Werther enters single leg X, bites on an outside heel hook, but Gianni moves around to the angle and finds the back. He's moved into the mount now, still in no points though. Gianni slaps on a side arm triangle and transitions to an anaconda, then back around for a crucifix. Fluid stuff. From the triangle he moves into a side triangle/kimura combo. Werther escapes! Gianni back to top and Werther is focusing on entering legs. Gianni just uses that to get to the back again. This time, he scores 3 - and laces up a rear naked choke for the tap.
Gianni Grippo def. Werther Marciales by submission (rear naked choke) in 6:01
2-time ADCC place winner Josh Cisneros out now to take on Anthony Molina. Things start but the ref stops us twenty seconds in. Molina has a problem with his gear, he was wearing shorts with zippers and pockets. He's changing now. Molina pulls and playing from his very flexible guard. Cisneros passes to side control from loose distance. Molina reguards and Cisneros disengages. We're into points now. As Molina wrestles up, Josh is around to the back in a flash! 3-0 Josh. He's working on trapping arms from the back. He goes kimura grip on the bottom arm, transitions to the armbar, and gets the tap.
Josh Cisneros def. Anthony Molina by submission (armbar) in 8:11
Tristan Sainz vs Kade Tsitos now. Tristan is a high schooler who is replacing his brother Michael Sainz who had to withdraw from the bracket during the weight cut. Tristan is a beast though, he will be in good shape for this. Kade a lethal leg locker with wins over guys like Luiz Paulo. Two minutes in, lot of hand fighting so far. Tsitos typically a guard puller so this is a changeup in strategy but he's doing well. Tristan jumps triangle! Kade shrugs out. They're back standing. Kade with a big double leg but it's twenty seconds before points. Now he's at least on top and in on a nice body lock. Points are now active. Tristan is able to stand and we are back wrestling. Tristan is a high school wrestler in Florida who won a state title in the last few weeks. 2 minutes left, Tsitos pumping up the crowd. He's the one doing most of the advancing, he does appear stronger and more mature physically. We are in OT. Sainz strikes with a blast double! Tsitos right up and we're in a rear body lock. Ref walking them to the center. Tsitos breaks away right after so no points. Things feel very even after that, but I haven't been tracking initiations. One minute left now. The match is in the balance, whoever loses will be wishing they opened up more. That's the match we have our first decision of the night. Tsitos takes it!
Kade Tsitos def. Tristan Sainz by decision
Our second Corbe brother is up as Deandre takes on Manning Leverett. Manning pulls. Corbe using the split squat and headquarters. Deandre leg pummels around and passes into north south about a minute in. He snatches an arm and locks up the armbar for the submission win in short order. Both brothers advance, that's the semifinal if they keep winning.
Deandre Corbe def. Manning Leverett by submission (armbar) in 1:29
Jett and Gavin up now. Jett is a young darkhorse in this bracket, but Gavin is a very experienced and talented black belt. Jett pulls and gets to closed guard. As Gavin stands, Jett latches onto an aoki but doesn't get it. Gavin falls back to play legs with him. Jett keeps looking to slap on an achilles or aoki and full send it, but no luck. Gavin being more methodical. Jett finally launches up to top and he uses a body lock to force himself quickly to side control, major moment - and then he mounts with some fancy foot work. Gavin kips out. Jett tries a very fancy back take but as he swung around Gavin was able to slip around to the top of closed guard (Jett on bottom). He's super aggressive with muscle sweep attempts whenever Corbe stands. Now he's finding an angle with an underhook and he nearly takes the back - but Corbe stays on top again. Now Corbe breaks free and is working to pass. Thompson looking false reap but Corbe untying legs. A lot of good scrambles here, but Corbe doing a good job with his pressure as the match wears on. He's working side to side. Thompson is now focusing on wrestling up but Corbe steps out well. Now on a wrestle up, Corbe catches a deep underhook. Thirty seconds left and he's pushing up the middle to mount. He hip switches to side for a moment late but can't hold anything and we go to 5 minute OT. Back on the feet. Jett shoots, Gavin spins to turtle. Jett comes back up and Gavin hip tosses him back to score! 4 minutes left. Jett trying to get into something from guard but Gavin sprawling him back down and stapling with shins well. 2 minutes left, Jett breathing deeply here. We are back on the feet and Jett is still attacking, but Gavin spins behind on a shot again. They exchange a bit more but that will do it, very intelligent performance from the Standard grappler.
Gavin Corbe def. Jett Thompson by points 2-0 in OT
Here we go with Diego Pato and Jordan Holy taking the mat to begin the bracketed action. Pato pulls immediately and climbs up on a figure four grip. He's also threatening the triangle a bit. Now he closes the legs around a reverse triangle and squeezes on it. Holy hanging on, over a minute in this now but he's trapped. Pato adjusts the legs to a more traditional triangle and finishes the match by submission.
Diego Pato def. Jordan Holy by submission (triangle choke) in 2:48
