Gabriel Almeida is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt from the city of Niteroi, near Rio de Janeiro. Born on June 4, 1992, Almeida is a black belt under Checkmat co-founder Rico Vieira. He trains at the Checkmat HQ in Signal Hill, California under Leo Vieira. Almeida is an ADCC veteran, having qualified for the 2019 World Championships by winning the 88kg division at the Brazilian Trials. He is the 2020 IBJJF American National No-Gi champion in the absolute division.
