In the co-main event, reigning champion Frank Rosenthal defended his featherweight belt with an impressive submission victory, while Mateo Maldonado was crowned Bantamweight Champion after coming out on top of an 8-man submission-only bracket.

Alex Nguyen landed a submission in overtime to retain her Finishers Sub Only 115 lb title this weekend, catching Chelsea Mapa with a choke from the back after a regulation period which Nguyen dominated positionally. Nguyen was one of three champions to retain her title at Finishers' late October event, Halloween Havoc streamed live on FloGrappling.

And this year, there's a new wrinkle in place; heel hooks and reaping are legal for black belts. New faces have come out in droves, and we could see the crowning of some first-time IBJJF No-Gi Pans champions. But those new faces will still have to get through some of the best in the world.

The 19-man featherweight division at the 2021 No-Gi Pan Championships has more wildcards than outright favorites, as leg lock specialists have flocked to the tournament in droves following the new IBJJF rules sanctioning heel hooks and reaping attacks.
