The closed guard armbar is often one of the very first attacks a person learns in jiu-jitsu, but the complexities and options available extend well beyond that: there are filing armbars, inverted worm guard finishes, attacks from the back, and so many more. 

Not only is it a multifaceted attack, but it's also a high percentage in and out of the gi, making it a necessary element of any well-rounded grapplers game.
