Texas Tour: We Take You Inside The Top Gyms In San Antonio, H-Town & ATX
We took a road trip around the lone star state to find the best jiu-jitsu training, talk to the sport's biggest names and we documented it all!
Texas has long been a state ahead of the jiu-jitsu curve. After all, the Machado brothers moved to Dallas in 1995 and famously trained Walker Texas Ranger. It doesn't get any more Texas than that.
Since then, jiu-jitsu has blossomed in the state and it currently boasts some of the toughest jiu-jitsu training in the country.
But with so many elite gyms on the East Coast and West Coast, sometimes Texas gets overlooked. So in 2020 I've made it a goal of mine to showcase the immense talent pool right here in the state I call home!
Austin: Brazilian Fight Factory
FloSports HQ is located in Austin, and I've been training here for the last six years. But it's only been recent that I've worked up the nerve to go down and visit the crew of killers at Brazilian Fight Factory. Add in two-time ADCC champion Yuri Simoes and you've got one of the best rooms in not just Texas but the world!
Houston: Gracie Barra Texas
Legendary professor Draculino runs a tight ship in Houston so it's no wonder that athletes from all over seek out his guidance. From IBJJF World Champions to NFL pro-bowlers and beyond, this might make for one of the most fun vlogs we've done yet!
San Antonio: Rodrigo Pinheiro Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
Sometimes the amount of talent we have here in Texas surprises me, and nothing delighted me more than when I heard five-time world champion Nathiely de Jesus and European champion Manuel Ribamar were opening their very own gym just down the street from Austin. We were lucky enough to the very first look at one of the newest academies in the state.
