Nick Rodriguez was able to take down and submit Michael Pixley in main event action at UFC Fight Pass Invitational 8. Rodriguez became more effective as the match wore on, before eventually putting Pixley down with a shot off a restart and used his signature body lock passing to move to mount and control while hunting for the finish. Overtime saw much of the same from Rodriguez, moving to mount before taking the back and securing the rear naked choke.

In a fun co-main event, it was Renato Canuto submitting PJ Barch in an upset win that featured tons of exciting action from both men. Canuto launched himself into the finish with a kani basami that he transitioned into an inside heel hook, but also showed off good wrestling and top game throughout the contest.

Renato's wife Raquel Canuto won a big match against IBJJF No-Gi World Absolute silver medalist Gabi McComb, beating her by rear naked choke after a back take in overtime. This was a return to form for Raquel, who has been splitting time between MMA and BJJ over the last few years.

In another notable match, #4 pound-for-pound athlete Dante Leon beat Andy Varela by submission, securing a guillotine choke. Varela was penalized for a strike to the face during the match, but then found himself stuck in the choke soon after.
