WNO 24: Gordon Ryan vs Josh Saunders Results

The third WNO event of the year, which is on June 20 at 8 p.m. EST in Austin, Texas, at the Austin Palmer Event Center, not only gives the 12 ADCC Trials Champions on the card a chance for one last match before ADCC Worlds, it allows them to face opponents who they may see in August.

WNO Heavyweight Championship | (C) Gordon Ryan vs Josh Saunders | 15 min

In his first match of 2024, Gordon Ryan came out guns blazing, immediately attacking Saunder's legs, then slowing down and beginning his top game, passing Saunders's guard after sweeping. After passing to side control several times, Ryan switched his focus back to Saunders's legs and found a heel hook to finish the fight!

WNO Featherweight Championship | (C) Diego Pato vs Fabricio Andrey | 15 min

Champion Diego Pato fought back and forth in an exciting bout with Fabricio Andrey and came out victorious after storming back and controlling in the match's second half. Taking Andrey's back with little time remaining, Pato collapsed Andrey and secured a choke for the finish!

WNO Middleweight Championship | Jacob Couch vs Jonnatas Gracie | 15 min

Cautious of Couch's offensive threats, Gracie remained patient after scoring an early single-leg takedown. Slowly working his way out of the closed guard, Gracie worked his way north-south before transitioning to side control, then mount, where he rode out the clock for the victory.

Men's Heavyweight | Victor Hugo vs Javier Zaruski | 15 min

Putting his arsenal of attacks to work, Hugo found success wrestling up from guard, landing several takedowns and finding entries to multiple submission attempts. Continuing to push the pace, Hugo worked his way to Zaruski's back, where he found the choke for the finish!

Men's Middleweight | Tainan Dalpra vs Jay Rodriguez | 15 min

Fighting rapidly from the start, Jay Rod scored the opening takedown, and the two began exchanging attacks. As the two battled, Dalpra found his way to Jay Rod's back after passing to side control late in the match, securing the most dominant position of the match and likely his victory as well.

Women's Flyweight | Adele Fornarino vs Ana Rodrigues | 15 min

In a largely stalemated bout, Fornarino won the decision on the strength of a kani basami takedown and a few submission attempts.

Men's Welterweight | Elijah Dorsey vs Jozef Chen | 15 min

Opening up with a beautiful inside trip, Jozef Chen patiently worked his way out of Dorsey's guard before exploding through it. Chen then took Dorsey's back and swiftly secured a choke for the finish!

Men's Lightweight | Deandre Corbe vs Ethan Crelinsten | 15 min

After Corbe raced ahead early and found several leglock attempts, Crelinsten passed to side control in a scramble and began turning the tides, eventually passing to mount and taking Corbe's back.

Dominant from the start, Declan Moody showcased his guard passing abilities by taking Costa's back twice. Relentless in his attempts, Moody found the submission with under a minute remaining!

Women's Flyweight | Taylor Hishaw vs Lauren Sears | 9 min

Ramping up her pace as the match furthered, Taylor Hishaw put her guard passing on display, forcing her way to Sears's back after defending an armbar attempt from Sears. Continuing to up the tempo, Hishaw fought until the final bell and attempted a last-second flying triangle.

Men's Lightweight | Andrew DeGraff vs Jordan Holy | 9 min

A leglock shootout from the start, Holy seemed to dictate the action throughout the bout and was awarded both judge's favors. In the final seconds, Holy passed DeGraff's guard to mount, which likely assured his victory.
