The IBJJF Jiu-Jitsu Con will feature Tainan vs Yan Pica-Pau, Ronaldo vs Sebastian, Johnatha vs Jackson Nagai and Janaina Lebre vs Emily Fernandez
The IBJJF has announced a slate of superfights that will take place on September 1 at the IBJJF Absolute Grand Prix, part of Jiu-Jitsu Con weekend in Las Vegas, NV.
Tainan Dalpra will face Yan "Pica-Pau" Lucas in middleweight action, Janaina Lebre will take on Emily Fernandez in a rematch, Jackson Nagai will face Johnatha Alves, and Ronaldo Junior will face off with Sebastian Rodriguez. The superfights will take the mats during the Absolute Grand Prix, with all of the action streamed live exclusively on FloGrappling.
Tainan is coming off of a successful run through the Asian championships and winning a match at the Tough Rolls event in Australia, adding to his monster black belt career. He recently snapped his undefeated run through IBJJF black belt competition after losing to Jansen Gomes in the 2023 World Championships finals. In the two prior seasons, he won Worlds twice at black belt middleweight. Yan Lucas, known as Pica-Pau, is a 2022 Pans medalist and Brazilian Nationals champion.
Janaina Lebre is a two-time black belt Worlds finalist, having won a silver medal in 2022 and 2023 at lightweight. Lebre won the IBJJF Grand Prix at the FloGrappling IBJJF GP last year, beating Luiza Monteiro and Ana Rodrigues for gold. She followed that up with a victory over Nathalie Ribeiro at the FloGrappling IBJJF GP in March 2023. This is a rematch from the Jiu-Jitsu Con tournament in 2022, where Lebre defeated Emily Fernandez by points, 8x2.
Johnatha Alves is the reigning lightweight world champion, winning his first World gold at black belt by defeating Pedro Maia on advantages. He will face off with the man he beat in the semifinals, bronze medalist Jackson Nagai. Their most recent match ended with Alves winning also on advantages.
Sebastian Rodriguez, fresh off of a 3rd place finish at this year's IBJJF Worlds for his first podium finish, is taking on Atos standout Ronaldo Junior. Sebastian won silver at the 2022 IBJJF No-Gi Worlds, and will be making his WNO debut on August 10th against Hunter Colvin. Ronaldo Junior is a long-time Atos standout who defeated Francisco Lo at the 2023 FloGrappling IBJJF GP.
All superfights will take place alongside the IBJJF Grand Prix on September 1, featuring Victor Hugo, Kaynan Duarte and many more, streamed live exclusively on FloGrappling.
