Leo Ferreira came into 2023 IBJJF European Championships as the #3 ranked competitor in a division of 46 competitors - Purple Belt Medium Heavyweight. Every single one of his matches resulted in a submission victory, including his finals match against a fellow Alliance teammate. **Update: Ferreira was retroactively disqualified from the division after incurring a disciplinary penalty in the absolute division. The medal went to Wruck. Ferreira was booted from the podium.
