Lucas Lepri Speaks Out About The Impact of Steroids on Jiu Jitsu
Lucas Lepri is a 9x World Champion, 9x Pan American champion and an ADCC silver medalist. For him, ADCC Gold is the only medal he does not have on his mantel at home. I sat down with Lucas to talk about his legacy as a competitor and he gave his thoughts about the impact that steroids have on jiu-jitsu.
"I accomplished all these things I have today, all these medals, without using anything. If the next generation starts to see that it's normal, imagine how messy is going to be the sport.
"You can see the professors sometimes pushing their students to take it, since they're young. That's not good. They have to believe they can get there without using. It's going to be hard, sometimes it's going to be frustrating as well.
"Myself, I competed with a lot of guys– I can't say 100% if they were on drugs, but visually we can tell, right? And it was frustrating for me, and I had to work even harder for that."
