Keenan Cornelius: His Plans For Worlds, NYC Adventures, & the Nomadic Life
It's been a wild ride for Keenan Cornelius in 2019.
In perhaps the biggest story of the year yet, the legendary jiu-jitsu athlete parted ways with his Atos, a team he's represented since 2013, and designated himself a free-agent: training and traveling the world as he wishes.
But the departure hasn't dampened his ambition – a black belt world title still eludes Cornelius, and he hopes to change that fact in a few short weeks.
The ronin athlete confirmed this week that he will be competing at the 2019 IBJJF World championships under a new flag – he will represent BJJ Globetrotters, mainly due to the fact 'they are the most lenient of all the teams, they just let you sign up as a member.'
Cornelius recently made the trip out to the east coast in order to kick start his worlds training camp: he was seen lifting with Gordon, training at unity and old friend JT Torres' gym, exploits of which can all be heard in full in this 30-minute interview.
