Danis & Shields Recap Chaotic UFC 202 Press Conference Melee
You could say it all started at UFC 202, Conor McGregor vs Nate Diaz II.
Jake Shields and Dillon Danis are a week out from their colossal matchup at Submission Underground 4 and tensions have been brewing all the way since August 2016.
Shields is a long time member of the California Skrap Pack, but Danis had only recently become apart of The Notorious One's entourage. The camps were sworn enemies from the jump and every time they interacted a powder keg could burst at any moment.
It all culminated at the pre UFC 202 press conference. Conor and his team arrived fashionably late to the media scrum and in return Diaz decided to skip out before the scheduled end.
As Diaz walked out he repeatedly flashed the middle finger while yelling expletives at both McGregor and his team. That's when the chaos broke out.
First Diaz threw a water bottle at McGregor's team and it wasn't long before McGregor was grabbing everything he could find to hurl at the evading Skrap Pack. Dana White tried to bring order as best he could but things were out of control.
In the midst of it all was Danis and Shields, doing their best to protect their fellow comrades preparing for battle. The incident even saw Shields throwing a cup of coffee directly at Danis.
The now infamous melee resulted in fines for both camps and became a black eye on an otherwise flawless event.
Fast forward 9 months and Dillon Danis and Jake Shields are finally ready to settle their beef inside the cage at Submission Underground 4. You won't want to miss this one.
