Free Agent Leandro Lo Enters New Phase Of His Career: 'I’m Going To Fight A Lot More This Year'

Leandro Lo (view profile) has promised he’ll fight more than ever in 2017 as his newfound free agency opens up the possibility of superfights and pro challenges. 

The Sao Paulo-based black belt told us that he intends to take on even more challenges in search, beginning with the Five Grappling light heavyweight Super League in March and a superfight versus Braulio Estima at the ADCC West Coast Trials in April —  both of which you can watch here on FloGrappling. 

On Five Grappling, Leandro said this: 

I was happy with the invite because it’s a big event, an event with a good name. I’m happy, it’s a cool event – we’ll see how it goes. 

Lo had a huge 2016, winning IBJJF Worlds, UAEJJF Abu Dhabi World Pro, IBJJF Pans, and three Copa Podio Grand Prixs. 

Incredibly, Lo says he plans to fight even more in 2017. “This year I’ll fight more. I’ll fight where I’m called – I’m free for superfights and grand prixs.” 

Not only that but Lo intends to compete in more open tournaments, too. He began the year by competing in Lisbon, Portugal, winning double gold at the IBJJF European Championships. He says that he’ll also compete in the Brazilian Nationals, a tournament he hasn’t done since 2012. 

I think I'll fight in more superfights. All of the events that are good for me, I'll fight. I think I'll end up fighting more than last year.
