Vlog: Sights, Sounds & Submissions From IBJJF Houston Open

I made the three hour trek down from Austin to Houston on Saturday morning for the first day of competition at the 2017 IBJJF Houston open. A smaller IBJJF open but actually one of the longer running tournaments on IBJJF's schedule. Texas has a rich history of jiu jitsu with many legends of the craft taking up residence in the the Lone Star state.

An action packed tournament which saw Vinny Magalhaes, Johnny Tama & Joao Miyao all pick up gold medals. However, the most dramatic moment of the day had to have been Diego Dias Ramalho's devastating straight ankle lock in the finals of the medium heavyweight division against Gracie Barra's Ignacio Neto. It's no secret ZR Team and Gracie Barra have history so whenever the two do square off you can be sure to expect fireworks. Check out the full black belt results below.
