One Night In Argentina: The Legend of John Combs
One night in Argentina, John Combs could have been king.
Combs was a little-known brown belt with some big accomplishments to his name. He won the LA Grand Slam at brown belt and even submitted his way to a Pan jiu-jitsu championship. By all accounts Combs was having a solid year. And then, like all accomplished brown belts, the Easton BJJ representative was promoted to black belt.
Two weeks later, Combs was in Buenos Aires, Argentina, competing against the biggest names in the sport in the toughest tournament in jiu-jitsu. He was in over his head. But Combs didn't care -- he was going to earn their respect. He walked into that Argentinian ballroom as a regular competitor, but he walked out a legend.
