History Lesson; Rafael Lovato Jr. Takes You Back To His First Fight With Cyborg In 2007

Roberto 'Cyborg' Abreu And Rafael Lovato Jr are two of the most storied competitors in the sport of jiu-jitsu, they've won everything there is win including the ADCC Absolute division and the IBJJF World Championships. They've have fought just about everyone in the book too; including each other.

Cyborg v. Lovato first happened at the Brazil National Championships in 2007. Lovato was having the best year of his career which would eventually culminate to a World Championship but first he fought in the finals of Brasileiros against a 25 year old Cyborg who was just beginning to make a name for himself in international competition.

He beat Comprido, on the other side. So I thought it would be a tough match. I remember watching him Kata Guruma Roger Gracie, standing, up onto his shoulders and throw Roger. I thought man who is this guy? He's strong has good takedowns and has this crazy guard you've never seen on a big guy. Honestly I was pretty intimidated. Of course I was hungry and confident but I was very cautious.
