JT Torres is best known for his accomplishments inside the competition arena. The 2x ADCC gold medalist, Pan, European, and No-gi World Champion has one of the best track records among any American athletes, but it should also be noted that JT Torres also has another highly sought after accolade: he received his black belt in just over four years. Surprisingly, Torres didn't live on the mats or train six hours a day, every day during his rapid ascent through the ranks– in fact, he had a very modest training schedule – 2-3 times a week, a few hours per session. Instead, Torres made leaps and bounds in the technique by studying tape relentlessly: "I was sitting on the couch watching hours, and hours of jiu-jitsu - and if I saw something that I liked I would rewind, pause, and look at the position, study the grips, and then when I would Train I would take that and try to implement it." - JT Torres
