Nicholas Meregali Officially Invited To ADCC 2022
The -99kg category at the ADCC World Championships just got thrown the ultimate wild card.
ADCC dropped a bombshell today when they announced that 2x IBJJF World Champ Nicholas Meregali has been invited to the ADCC 2022 World Championships.
The competitor - while no doubt one of the greatest athletes in jiu-jitsu today - has never entered into the fray of no-gi competition. Mo Jassim explained the decision to invite Meregali by saying 'I don’t mind taking chances on certain athletes, depending on the room in a division. Meregali is someone I have no issue taking a chance on.'
The news comes in hot on the heels of the news that Nicholas Meregali has been spending some time in the United States training with Gordon Ryan.
In 2019 the -99 kg division was dominated by Brazil's most wanted. In 2022, it'll be dominated by Brazil's 2nd most wanted (laughs). - Gordon Ryan
