Three Free Prelims Kick Off WNO: Craig Jones vs Pedro Marinho On January 21
Jessie Crane (1-3) will face Alexa Yanes (0-0), Cameron Reed (0-0) will face Michael Pixley (0-0), and Geno Morelli (0-0) will face Kemoy Anderson (0-0).
Three free preliminary matches will start the show on Friday, January 21 for WNO: Craig Jones vs Pedro Marinho. Those matches will be streamed for free on YouTube and Facebook.
At the top of the undercard, WNO veteran Jessica Crane will return to the mats in search of her second submission victory. She’ll take on Alexa Yanes of Rodrigo Pinheiro BJJ as Yanes makes her debut on the WNO mats in the budding flyweight division.
Yanes has a well rounded submission game, and is especially adept at foot locks. That could be a point of concern for the Ares product, Crane, who has had three leg lock losses on WNO.
Still, Crane is more experienced in the ruleset, and she’s demonstrated that if she takes control of the match, she’ll never give it back.
Earlier on the card, Michael Pixley will represent Pedigo Submission Fighting in his WNO debut against Cameron Reed of 10th Planet in the middleweight division. Pixley is a decorated wrestler, and most recently, a no-gi world champion at blue belt. He won the absolute division on a string of quick choke victories.
He’ll face Reed, aka “Deck Papi” who he got into a slap exchange with in the semifinal of the heavyweight division at no-gi Worlds. This could be something of a grudge match for them on the biggest stage of their submission grappling careers.
In the first bout of the night, two rising stars will make their WNO debuts at 205 lbs. Former Penn State wrestler Geno Morelli, now a blue belt no-gi world champion representing B-Team, will take on 10th Planet brown belt Kemoy Anderson, a Fight to Win veteran with an impressive submission rate and the aggressive style deserving of a spot on WNO.
