The Stars Registered For The Women's Divisions At ADCC East Coast Trials

Nearly 100 female competitors are registered for the 1st ADCC North American Trials taking place next weekend, November 6-7, in Atlantic City, NJ.

Unlike their male counterparts, the women who win this trials will not automatically earn a spot at the ADCC World Championships in 2022. But East Coast Trials Organizer Tom Deblass has committed to flying each of the female division winners out to next year’s West Coast Trials, where the winner will earn a golden ticket to ADCC.

The full trials roster, complete with more than 800 competitors, will remain under wraps until a date closer to the event. But all week, we have been releasing a few of the key players in each division. Below are the names of some of the biggest female stars registered for the ADCC East Coast Trials.

See each of the biggest names in the male rosters here:

66 kg | 77 kg | 88 kg | 99 kg & over

Women’s 60 kg Division

Brianna Ste-Marie | Brazilian Top Team

Canada’s Brianna Ste-Marie is on a tear this year, having earned gold at No-Gi Worlds, winning multiple combat jiu-jitsu titles and earning her first WNO victory just last week. She’s well-rounded, with sharp submission skills, which could make her a threat in this division. She has a slow, controlled, but attack oriented game, so if she gets ahead, she’s likely to remain ahead. This division is full of tough athletes on the rise, but Ste-Marie appears a step ahead of most.

Amanda “Tubby” Alequin | Gamblers

Tubby Alequin already made it to the top of a podium at trials once before, qualifying for ADCC 2015, taking fourth in the 60+ division. Tubby has been competing in the lighter division over the last few years, and has started to make her mark there. She recently took fourth at the WNO Championship, collecting two leg lock submissions on the way.

Alequin is scrappy, well-rounded, and eager to prove that she deserves another shot at an ADCC title. Success at the East Coast Trials would be a huge first step.

60+ kg Division

Kendall Reusing | Gracie Barra

Kendall Reusing may be the most decorated of any woman registered for the East Coast Trials. This year alone, she took second at the WNO Championship, and earned a No-Gi Pans title. She’s an experienced wrestler, which could give her an edge over most of the field in the ADCCC ruleset. In general, she’s one of the sharpest heavyweights around, and could be considered a favorite to win trials.

Cat Zingano | Atos

Now a brown belt under Andre Galvao, former UFC contender Cat Zingano, who now fights for Bellator, has a dynamic blend of wrestling ability and positional control which could make her a problem for even the most seasoned competitors.
