Can Arnaldo Maidana pull off the ultimate upset against Rafael Lovato Jr.? This weekend the two will be facing off at FTW 141 where Arnaldo will get his chance to defeat the American legend.
Arnaldo represents the CheckMat flag and has the opportunity to learn from some of the best in the world. While some may not be familiar with Maidana, he certainly has made his mark. For those of you who are unaware, checkout this sparring session against Marcus "Almedia" Buchecha.

After receiving his promotion to black belt in 2013 under Gilberto Gabas, Arnaldo became an IBJJF American National Champion in 2015 and then World No-Gi Champion in 2017. Throughout his journey, he has gained notable wins over some of the biggest names in grappling.
He currently has victories over Lucas Barbosa, Eduardo Telles, Ricardo Evangelista, Josh Hinger, and Patrick Gaudio.
While he certainly is an underdog this weekend against Lovato, it's clear that coronavirus has taken its toll on competitors' performance. We saw this last weekend at FTW 139 and 140. Isolated in Oklahoma City, battling health issues and restricted by quarantine, is Lovato Jr. at risk for a potential upset?
