BJJ Fanatics will be hosting their No-Gi Submission Only Grand Prix at the Cabot Theater in Beverly, Massachusetts, on November 15. The event will bring together some of the best no-gi grapplers in the world and will be streamed live on FloGrappling.com.

Twenty-nine athletes will be competing for the $10,000 grand prize, with second place receiving $2,500 and third place taking home $500. BJJ Fanatics has also declared that instructional deals will be awarded at the event as well. The tournament will use a 10-minute submission-only format, with matches that go to the end of regulation time being decided under EBI overtime rules.

The Return Of The King

The big name in the tournament and heavy favorite is, of course, No. 1 pound-for-pound ranked Gordon Ryan, fresh off his epic double gold performance at the ADCC World Championships. Gordon has won all 12 of his matches so far in 2019 and is going into BJJ Fanatics on a 30-match win streak. Gordon is also an expert in this ruleset, having won the Eddie Bravo Invitational four times in his career.

Hulk And The Tractor

Joining Gordon as one of the favorites in this tournament will be 2019 ADCC bronze medalist and 2017 IBJJF absolute champion Lucas “Hulk” Barbosa. Hulk and Gordon had a close fight at ADCC in the semifinals, with Gordon getting a late back take to take the win.

Vinicius”Trator” Ferreira from Alliance Marcelo Garcia will be competing and has had a great run of success lately in the no-gi scene, first defeating Keenan Cornelius on his way to winning No-Gi Pans. Trator then took a late ADCC invite with less than a week's notice before making it to the final, where he finished second to Gordon Ryan in the 99kg division.

Stacked Division

Another notable name is 2019 ADCC fourth-place finisher Dante Leon, who famously took the back of legend Lucas Lepri just a few weeks ago in Anaheim. Three-time No-Gi Pans champ Aaron “Tex” Johnson will be competing, along with the winner of the BJJ Fanatics Brown Belt Invitational Kyle Boehm. Kody Steele, Jonnatas Gracie, Keith Krikorian, Victor Silverio, and William Tackett add depth to this bracket and should make for some exciting matchups from the early rounds on.

Tune in November 15 as we stream this event live from Massachusetts, and see if anyone is able to do what hasn’t been done this year and dethrone “The King” Gordon Ryan.
