Edwin Najmi continues his hot streak last weekend with an impressive victory over DJ Jackson at F2W 120 in Pitsburgh, PA.
The match began how most fans would anticipate: DJ sought to impose his wrestling over the notoriously high-flying Edwin Najmi. Unphased, the Gracie Barra athlete even egged on his opponent before eventually pulling to half guard, a position most would not want to play with a physically dominating athlete, like DJ Jackson.

Every move Najmi made from there was a calculated attempt to submit, or advance to an even more dominant position, leaving minimal time and space for Jackson to respond. Najmi quickly transitioned from a leg attack to attack the back, and retained that position for the rest of the match, relentlessly attacking the seemingly unchokeable neck of Jackson.
After the ten-minute main event, Edwin Najmi became the F2W No-Gi Middleweight champion via unanimous ref’s decision.
The co-main event was not so clear cut.
In a title match for the women’s Bantamweight no-gi belt Catherine Perret and Tubby Alequin left everything on the stage. These women are two of the most fan-friendly athletes.
After playing some stand up with the current champ, Tubby dropped to the mat to play seated guard, a position from which she imposed herself as a threat. Both athletes were brazen in their attacks from their respective positions: Catherine leaping for guard passes and flying for submissions, while Alequin effortlessly inverted to sneak into counter-attacks and submissions.
By the end of the ten-minute co-main event no one envied the judges. While Alequin possibly had more submission attempts, including a deep heel hook to end the match, Catherine Perret was more aggressive in her pursuit of a pass, and claimed what was arguably the most threatening submission attempt early in the match with a toe hold. The match ended with a unanimous decision victory for Catherine Perret, adding another successful title defense to the champ’s resume.
