Third Coast Grappling Expanding; Set to Debut Qualifying Event March 29
Third Coast Grappling is looking to add two more names to their star-studded Summer show.
Texas-based promotion Third Coast Grappling returns to FloGrappling on June 29, 2019 with a stacked card featuring Romulo Barral vs Gilbert 'Durinho' Burns, Josh Hinger vs Craig Jones, Mike Perez vs Jackson Sousa and more!
But the budding organization isn't sitting on their hands until then; they've decided to throw a qualifying event on March 29 in Houston that will add two more names to the blockbuster summer event.
The qualifier features two brackets: the -180lb purple belt division which features up-and-coming names like William Tacket, and a +180 blue belt division. There are also four select superfights that will be sure to thrill the crowd, including Kody Steele vs Justin Renick.
The rules
For both gi and no-gi matches, IBJJF rules will be implemented but with a twist: there are no advantages, and the first fighter to either score 11 points or earn a submission wins. The point of the new ruleset is to aggressively negate stalling while also respecting the transitioning position before submission mentality of classic jiu-jitsu.
