Registration for 2019 Spyder Championship Qualifier Now Open

The Spyder Invitational is not just the marquee jiu-jitsu event in Asia, but also one of the most thrilling and professional events found anywhere in the world.

The qualifying round of the tournament is set to take place March 2, 2019, in Seoul, Korea, but one cannot simply sign up to compete –- you must apply and be chosen via committee at Spyder.  If an athlete is selected to compete, their flights to Korea and hotel are provided by Spyder.

Why do we love this event so much? It's simple –- by combining purple-black belt athletes in the same event we get to see matchups we could only dream of (or wait for) in the past, and the results of these matches have proven that belt rank at the elite level is much more a matter of mere formality than skill.

Want to make a name for yourself?  Do well here and you'll certainly be on everyone's radar.

A Brief Recap: Spyder in 2018

Team Atos swept Spyder Championships in 2018, with rising stars Jonatha Alves and Kaynan Duarte taking home top honors in the -76 & +76 divisions.

Alves, only promoted to brown belt in June after the World Championships, pulled off two key upsets on his road to gold, including wins over Black Belt World Champion Shane Jamil-Hill Taylor and Paulo Miyao, cementing himself as a force to be reckoned with at the highest level of competition.

Duarte also looked equally impressive throughout his run at Spyder, and he was the only athlete to compete in every single event in the year-long tournament, taking home first place in February (qualifier) July (quarterfinals) and November (semifinals/final).
