Some of the best grappling talent on the East Coast is set to showcase its skill at the RISE Submission Invitational 4, and you can watch it live on FloGrappling.

On Friday night, grappling fans can expect to see title fights, a bantamweight tournament, and a stacked card of superfights at the Capitale ballroom in New York.

Rau to defend belt vs. Padilla 

The main event features RISE welterweight champ Jason Rau of Serra BJJ (undefeated in all three appearances at RISE Invitational) against the always tough Mike Padilla. Rau won a tough eight-man EBI rules tourney to claim the belt at RISE 1, and now he puts that strap on the line in his first title defense. This match will be 10 minutes submission only with one round of EBI overtime if necessary. 

Key superfights 

Nick Pace and Alex Ecklin meet in a rematch of their 10-minute bout that ended in a draw at RISE 1 in July 2017. This time the promotion has included one round of EBI overtime to declare a winner if needed.

RISE lightweight champ Nick Ronan returns to face 10th Planet black belt PJ Barch in a 170lb superfight. Ronan trains under Matt Serra and John Danaher, and there is history between Barch and Nick’s good friend and main training partner, Jason Rau. The well-known rivalry between the 10th Planet team and Renzo Gracie squad continues. 

Bantamweight tourney

One of the main attractions of the event is a four-man tournament, which will be contested at 135lb. The lineup includes Renzo Gracie's Frank Rosenthal, an up-and-coming member of the DDS. Also entered in the bracket are Gracie Barra black belt Sop Huh, ECU Bronx purple belt and amateur MMA prospect Christian Medina, and 10th Planet HQ purple belt Rey Rey from Los Angeles. 

The undercard will feature some of the best submission grapplers and MMA fighters from the Tri-State area, including a feature match between Ring of Combat welterweight champ and brown belt Taj Abdul Hakim and ROC vet and Madama BJJ black belt Mike Elshamy.
