Mackenzie Dern On Being Compared To Ronda Rousey
Mackenzie Dern will make her UFC debut on Saturday at UFC 222.
The biggest fight of Mackenzie Dern's life is just around the corner.
Dern long expressed her dream of fighting in the UFC 2017, and while she was only a few months shy of meeting that goal, she has officially made it to the Octagon.
On Saturday night, the 24-year-old will make her promotional debut against fellow strawweight Ashley Yoder at UFC 222 in the main event of the FS1 portion of the Las Vegas card.
The multiple-time IBJJF black belt world champion has gained a lot of momentum over the last 18 months of her MMA career, compiling an undefeated 5-0 record.
Most recently, Dern picked up a third-round submission victory over former Invicta title challenger Kaline Medeiros in December. The win earned Dern an immediate call-up to the big show.
On Tuesday's episode of "UFC Embedded," Dern is featured finishing up her training camp with ADCC legend Leo Vieira. When asked about people comparing her to former UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey, Dern had this to say:
"The comparison between me and Ronda Rousey is just so flattering. Because she has done so much. My goals are to do as much as her if not more, but I think we are totally two different people with two different styles and two different personalities."
