Mackenzie Dern's UFC Debut Scheduled For March Against Ashley Yoder
After going 5-0 in smaller promotions Mackenzie Dern gets called to the UFC.
It was only a matter of time.
When Mackenzie Dern decided to switch from BJJ to MMA she made it very clear her goal was to become a UFC champion. Her quest for MMA gold will now officially begin on March 3.
The two-time IBJJF world champion has been tapped to make her long-awaited UFC debut against Ultimate Fighter alum Ashley Yoder in a strawweight matchup at UFC 222 in Las Vegas, as first reported by MMAFighting.
Dern is coming off an impressive third-round armbar-finish win over Kaline Medeiros on Dec. 8 while fighting in UFC women's feeder league Invicta FC. The highlight-reel submission was apparently enough to convince the UFC brass that Dern is ready to step into the Octagon.
Yoder is riding a two-fight losing streak after a promising show on the UFC reality show "The Ultimate Fighter."
