The No-gi Middleweight title was on the line tonight as DJ “Action” Jackson faced Gilbert “Durinho” Burns in Fight To Win Pro 53 in Maryland.

The two powerhouses wrestled aggressively for top position before Jackson was able to toss Burns to his back three minutes into the match. Once on top, Jackson continued to attack. By staying low and applying continued pressure he was able to thwart any of Burns offensive attacks.

As Burns scrambled to make something happen in the final moments, Jackson’s relentless pressure and unwavering base led him to victory.

Jackson retained the Fight To Win No-Gi Middleweight title with a 2-1 split decision.

Notable Performances

Two other titles were on the line tonight as the submission-only promotion worked its way down the East Coast to Team Lloyd Irvin territory.

Tim Spriggs came out super aggressive in the Gi Heavyweight title match against Leo Nogueria. His forceful takedown and passing attempts earned him the judges decision and a shiny new belt.

In the women’s Flyweight Gi title match, the young Team Lloyd Irvin black belt Aarae Alexander showed tremendous composure against the established Talita Alencar. In an exciting back and forth match, the veteran Alencar was able to earn the judges nod and claim the title.
