American grappling star Garry "The Lion Killer" Tonon has announced he has signed with One Championship on a multi-fight contract.
The New York City-based 26-year-old has been teasing a possible professional MMA debut for some time and has found a home in Asia's largest MMA promotion.
"I am thrilled to be able to finally announce my arrival in ONE Championship. It is the natural evolution in my career as a grappler," Tonon said in his official statement on OneFC.com. "I have achieved all that I have set out to do in the world of jiu-jitsu, and now I am ready to take on a new challenge."
Tonon's MMA debut won't be his first time in the One FC cage though. He previously competed for the promotion in a grappling superfight with Shinya Aoki back in May, earning the win with a devastating heel hook.
There is no word on when Tonon will make his MMA debut with One FC. Stay tuned for more...
