One of the best things about the IBJJF World Master Jiu-Jitsu Championship is the jam-packed seminar schedule. If you're heading to Las Vegas to compete on Aug. 24-26, you should absolutely take this opportunity to learn from some of the best jiu-jitsu athletes in history.
Any time spent with Saulo Ribeiro on the mats makes for a good day. The charismatic, five-time world champion is one of the best to ever put on a gi: He boasts a complete game with vicious stand-up, an impassible guard, and a crushing top game. This is an opportunity to learn from a modern legend.
3 PM: Leo Vieira
Leo Vieira is in the middle of a career revival and currently gearing up for the hotly anticipated ADCC 2017 World Championships. The fifth-degree black belt is head of the Checkmat association and head coach to no-other than the great Marcus "Buchecha" Alemeida. Vieira is known for his dynamic and innovative game, and athletes can be sure to learn some new tricks at his seminar.
A black belt under Carlos Gracie Jr., Roberto Tussa is a four-time no-gi world champion and two-time Pan American champion. Tussa is currently based out of Albuquerque, New Mexico, where alongside his own academy he also serves head jiu-jitsu coach for many top MMA athletes such as Jon Jones and Carlos Condit. Tussa possesss a wicked flying triangle and should have plenty of modern and classic techniques to share.
3 PM: Fabio Gurgel
"The General" Fabio Gurgel is the Alliance team leader alongside Romero "Jacare" Calvacante. Gurgel is a truly fearsome competitor, and you'll still find the four-time world champion wiping the mats with younger athletes. A seminar with Gurgel is an amazing opportunity into the mind of one of the winningest athletes AND coaches of all time.
Rounding out the incredible series of seminars is none other than Renzo Gracie! A legend of the game, Renzo needs little introduction. We expect his portion of the seminar series to include epic stories and old school jiu-jitsu and be a generally incredible experience. Don't miss the chance to learn from one of the most interesting and skilled personalities in the sport.
