Beatriz Mesquita can add $10k and another accolade to career: Grappling Pro Women's Grand Prix Champion! The Gracie Humaita's dangerous closed guard was on full display all afternoon.
She submitted both of her opponents in the first round on her way to the finals: Fio Signini via belly down armbar and Crystal Demopuolos by kimura from the guard.
Mesquita faced Talita Alencar in the final, who had an equally impressive day throughout the earlier rounds. The first round saw Bia aggressively trying to finish what looked to be a deep calf-slicer, but Talita refused to tap and the round ended 0 x 0. An explosive takedown to back-take sequence from Mesquita ultimately led to her taking the win by RNC.
In a nutshell: three submissions for a prize of $10,000!
