The Brazilian Nationals (Brasileiros) is not only one of the toughest jiu-jitsu tournaments in the world -- it's also the loudest! The finals had the crowd going wild and they shook the arena in Sao Paulo when black belts such as Leandro Lo, Cobrinha, Tayane Porfirio, Erberth Santos and Bianca Basilio stepped on the mat.
Rubens 'Cobrinha' Charles returned to his homeland of Brazil to not only win gold, but to move one step closer to winning the Grand Slam (Europeans, Pans, Brazilian Nationals and Worlds) in what many believe may be his final competitive year. The 37-year-old Alliance star is already signed up for Worlds.
Tayane Porfirio proved untouchable as she won double gold, winning both the ultra-heavyweight and absolute gold, beating Luzia Fernandes and Beatriz Mesquita respectively. Tayane has faced Mesquita three times this year, winning every time.
Alliance and GF Team each took three black belt titles, with Cobrinha, Michael Langhi and Dimitrius Souza winning featherweight, lightweight and heavyweight. Jaime Cannot, Patrick Gaudio and Victor Honorio won the middleweight, medium heavyweight and ultra heavyweight divisions.
Beatriz Mesquita returned to the Brasileiros for the first time since she was a purple belt, winning gold versus Bianca Basilio in the female lightweight final.
