Of course, Gordon Ryan's late substitution for an injured Braulio Estima versus Leandro Lo stood out, as did the horrific arm break in the 77kg division, but here are three (young) athletes who impressed you.
Nicky Ryan
15 years old and submitting black belts, Nicky Ryan is a special talent and very much in the beginning of his grappling career. Known as Gordon's little brother, he further established his own name with another third place finish at an ADCC Trials event.

Elisabeth Clay
The 16-year-old blue belt from Alaska won the -60kg division, which makes her the joint-youngest competitor to ever compete at ADCC Worlds (the other being 16-year-old Kizma Button who competed in 2005). Whatever happens in September, her name will likely stay in the people's memories for a long time as a result.

Ian Murray
He's a brown belt from Gracie Tampa in Florida, and he savagely submitted his way through to the quarterfinals of the 77kg division, with his four previous matches totaling less than three and a half minutes. Talk about WOW.

The crazy thing is that none of the above athletes are over 20 years of age. The future of grappling is looking very bright indeed.
