Despite Serious Injury, Saulo Ribeiro Wins Fifth Masters Worlds Title
Saulo Ribeiro won his fifth consecutive IBJJF Masters World title today in Las Vegas in spite of a serious injury.

The legendary competitor won the Masters 3 black belt heavyweight division, beating Cristiano Santos Lazzarini of Gracie Barra in the final.

Ribeiro, whose brother Xande closed out the absolute division of the Masters 1 division with their student Rafael Lovato Jr. yesterday, hurt his arm in the semi-final match.

He was attended to by medics and went on to fight in the final, winning 2-0 by takedown with a big seoi-nage throw even though he effectively fought for six minutes with one arm.

Following the win, Ribeiro is expected to go to the hospital for assessment and treatment of a suspected torn bicep.

Saulo had fought fights total, winning his first two by submission and the semi-final and final by points.
