Roosterweight Caio Terra will be unable to make his Masters Worlds debut this week due to a serious illness he contracted while traveling.
Terra was hospitalized for two days following a trip to Russia, where he contracted salmonella from food poisoning.
Unable to eat for eight days, Terra could only take fluids via an IV and only started eating solid food again last weekend.
The 30-year-old 10-time black belt world champion (2-time gi, 8-time no-gi) had travelled to Chechnya to compete in the Berkut event. He fought Yusup Saadulaev, winning by decision.
Now recovered, Terra has been advised he cannot engage in any physical activity for three weeks. This was to be his first tournament competing in the master (over 30) division.

I was really sick but I'm feeling better now and can't wait to get back to training in a couple weeks.
