The prestigious International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (BIJJF) Awards ceremony takes place next week in Irvine, California. Prizes will be awarded to the top-ranked male and female competitors, and four as-yet-unannounced names will be inducted into the IBJJF Hall of Fame.
The invite-only event—which will draw dozens of figures from the sport of jiu-jitsu including active competitors, legendary former champions and leading team coaches—will be broadcast live on FloGrappling so jiu-jitsu fans can be part of history.
The IBJJF Awards ceremony was devised to celebrate the most accomplished figures of the sport, and it has fast become one of the most important nights of the year for the the jiu-jitsu community.
In addition to the addition of four figures to the Hall of Fame, the IBJJF will award a prize of $15,000 for the leading male and female athletes of the 2015/2016 ranking season. The rankings are publicly available throughout the season and the top ten is as follows:
Points are awarded based on the number and prestige of IBJJF tournaments in which the ranking athletes win medals. For a detailed explanation of the system, click here.
The top teams will also be honored for their success throughout the season.
The entire awards ceremony will be broadcast for FREE live on FloGrappling and will be hosted by black belt Shawn Williams.
