On Sunday, May 21, FloGrappling will live-stream Respect Pro Jiu-Jitsu 3—an elite production that showcases the very best grapplers in the world. To get you up to speed on what the event has to offer, here’s a brief history of the promotion.

The inaugural event debuted just one year ago with Joao Faria, Ezra Lenon, and founder JW Wright, among others, on the card. The idea was simple: give jiu-jitsu the professional platform it deserves, make it look cool, and bring the rules back to their submission-centered roots—no advantages.

Respect 2

In the second edition of the event, the stakes had been raised, and even bigger names were touted: Gianni Grippo, Jeff Curran, Karen Atunes, Jenna Bishop, Shawn Woods, and an epic legends match between Megaton Diaz and Chris Haueter. Despite the incredible card, Respect 2 flew under the radar and was largely ignored by the west- and east-coast Brazilian jiu-jitsu hubs.
