The New York International Pro is coming up this weekend and the 77kg division is stacked with talent black belts. The competition is the final event where winners can qualify for the Abu Dhabi World Pro in April. There are seven grapplers signed up for the 77kg division, three of them world-class competitors.



Francisco Iturralde Lara, better known by his nickname ‘Sinistro’, is an Ecuadorian athlete who trains out of Alliance in Atlanta, Georgia. A aggressive submission hunter with a dynamic guard, he’s dangerous from top and bottom and at times very unpredictable.



Felipe Cesar Silva is from Sao Paulo and known for winning numerous tournaments in Brazil. He’s great in both gi and no-gi and has a mean closed guard.



Marcos Tinoco trains out of Marcelo Garcia’s academy in Manhattan is one of the legendary world champion’s toughest competitors. He has an excellent open guard game and – much like his mentor – a very dangerous rear naked choke.
