Not April Fools: Craig Jones to Face Olympic Champ Gable Steveson at CJI 2
Craig Jones has announced his super fight for CJI 2, as he will be taking on Olympic Champion wrestler Gable Steveson in a grappling match

In unexpected news, Craig Jones has announced that his super fight for CJI 2 will be against Olympic Champion wrestler Gable Steveson in a cross-sport event. The match, going down August 31st at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, NV, is part of a larger Quintet-style team-based event.
Craig announced the match earlier today on Instagram and while the date (April Fool's Day) has many questioning the authenticity we can confirm that this is genuine.
The original Craig Jones Invitational was held last year in the same arena, head-to-head with ADCC. This time, they will run concurrently to IBJJF Masters Worlds. Last year Craig, a two-time ADCC medalist, submitted Gabi Garcia in an intergender grappling match. Gable was last in action at the NCAA Wrestling Championships, where he took second to 2025 Hodge Trophy winner Wyatt Hendrickson. Gable won a gold medal at the 2020 Olympic Games in freestyle wrestling, scoring a dramatic comeback victory in the finals.
