The No. 2 pound-for-pound women’s Gi grappler in the world was shocked at the 2025 IBJJF Pan Jiu Jitsu Championship on March 22 in Kissemee, Fla.
Mayssa Bastos, who is the current No. 2 women’s Gi Grappler at FloGrappling and behind just No. 1 Gabi Pessanha, was upset by Thaynara Victoria in the Black Belt Light Feather division.

Bastos was the overwhelming favorite to win her class with IBJJF Pan Championships in 2019, 2020, 2023 and 2024.
