The 2025 Pan Championships are in the books. New black belt champions and returning champions alike have been crowned.
Some, like Nolan Stuart, earned their first day in the spotlight; while others, Like Tainan Dalpra, Diego Pato and Adam Wardzinski work to keep their winning streaks alive in hopes of completing the 2025 Grand Slam.

- An unusually cautious pace from both athletes.The action picked up around the six-minute mark, when Gutemberg pulled guard and earned a couple of near sweep advantages. Roberto turned up the pace toward the final moments, but couldn't overcome Gutemberg's lead.
Female
- Gabrieli Pessanha remains unstoppable, submitting Izadora Cristina from the back. She finished the weekend with a 100-percent submission rate, and collected her eighth and ninth Pans black belt titles

- A tactical match in the 50-50 position went to decision, giving rookie black belt Jalen Fonacier his first black belt major title.
LIGHT FEATHERWEIGHT
7 Rerisson Dos Santos (Alliance) def 1 Diogo Reis (Melqui Galvão) via referee decision
- Dos Santos started with an early passing flurry, gaining an advantage before getting caught on bottom. From his closed guard, he exploded with a muscle sweep to score two. Diogo swept back and incrementally worked toward a guard pass, but couldn't secure the position. He continued his pursuit to the back, and although he couldn't score, he tied the board with two advantages earned. The referees awarded the decision to Rerrison Gabriel dos Santos

- Robinho wins his first black belt major title in the gi, scoring an early advantage and riding it out through the match.
MIDDLEWEIGHT
1 Tainan Dalpra (AOJ) def 2 Andy Murasaki (Atos) via points (6-0)
- Tainan Dalpra was the first to get on the board with a sweep. Murasaki nearly swept back, then nearly scored a takedown, picking up two advantages. But Tainan collected his own takedown on the reset, and pushed his lead to four points. Another two point sweep at the end padded Tainan's lead, bringing him to victory. He remains on track for a 2025 Grand Slam, as he's already earned the European title.

HEAVYWEIGHT
1 Adam Wardzinski (Checkmat) def 7 Roberto Jimenez (Studio 76) via points (16-4)
- Roberto opened with energy, scoring a quick takedown then piling up advantages for a flurry of near backtakes and near passes. Ever the recovery master, Wardzinski returned to his butterfly guard where he landed a knee lever sweep then passed to mount for a seven point lead. Wardzinski sustained pressure for minutes before Jimenez escaped, returning immediately to his high flying game in an effort to take Wardzinski's back. But Wardzinski re-secured top position to ride the clock out and keep his Grand Slam hopes alive.
SUPER HEAVYWEIGHT
13 Nolan Stuart (Brea) def 2 Paulo Merlin (Gracie Barra) via points (2-0)
- Paulo Merlin launched a barrage of passing attempts early, gaining an advantage lead. Nolan Stuart remained composed in his guard, and scored a sweep in the final minutes, picking up the go-ahead points and his first major black belt gold.
ULTRA HEAVYWEIGHT
2 Marcus Scooby (Alliance) def 4 Helder Jose Junior (Atos) via bread cutter choke
- Inside of the first three minutes, Scooby passed the guard. As soon as he landed in side control, he found the cross collar grip and dropped the elbow for the choke, getting a quick tap from Helder Junior.
Female Weight Class Finals
Roosterweight
1 Jessica Caroline (Fratres) def 5 Mariana Rolszt (Gracie Humaita) via points (4-2)
- Jessica Caroline had a significant triangle threat early, tying Rolszt's advantage for coming up from double pull. They swept back and forth before Caroline scored the go-ahead sweep in the final minute of the bout. This is her second black belt Pans title.

Light Featherweight
6 Thaynara Victoria (Dream Art) def 3 Shelby Murphey (AOJ) via points (2-0)
- A tactical mistake by Murphey at the end of the match put Victoria in the lead. Murphey had controlled the match for the first nine minutes with a two advantage lead, but fell back on a footlock in the closing moment. Victoria came up to score the sweep points, earning her first major title as a black belt. Earlier in the tournament, she defeated multiple-time world champion Mayssa Bastos. This is Thaynara Victoria's rookie year at black belt after winning a brown belt world title in 2024.
Featherweight
2 Maria Luiza Nunes Pinto (Almeida JJ) def 6 Cassia Moura (LEAD) via points (6-2)
- Cassia Moura put the blitz on early, getting behind Maria and nearly securing the back. Action settled down as the pair engaged in the 50-50 position where they accumulated penalties. With 80 seconds remaining, Moura launched another flurry, sweeping into half guard where she delivered pressure. Maria Luiza swept back to regain the lead. Moura locked on a tight armbar, but Maria Luiza ate through it to collect the victory. This is her first black belt major gold.
Lightweight
2 Janaina Lebre (AOJ) def 1 Luiza Monteiro (Atos) via ankle lock
- It took Janaina Lebre just 60 seconds to get a bite on Luiza Monteiro's foot from single leg X-guard and earn the tap. It's a huge victory for Lebre, and her second Pans title. With a 2025 Euros title to boot, Janaina remains on track for a Grand Slam in 2025.
Middleweight
15 Gisele Tavares (GF Team) def 12 Ana Beatriz Santos Silva (Vision) via points (3-0)
- Gisele Menezes Tavares had to overcome some tricky closed guard and lapel guard work, but managed to pass the guard near the half way mark of the match, and rode her three point lead to victory. Menezes Tavares earned her first IBJJF major black belt title at Pans as a rookie black belt.
Medium Heavyweight
2 Maria Vicentini (AOJ) def 1 Aurelie Le Vern (Six Blades) via advantages
- Vicentini scored an early advantage for an armlock attempt, then another for a near sweep. Le Vern tried to put pressure on Vicentini's guard, but the AOJ athlete endured with flexibility and strong grips. This is Vicentini's first IBJJF major title at black belt.
Heavyweight
1 Larissa Dias (R1NG) def 3 Maria Malyjasiak (Abmar Barbosa) via advantages
- Larissa Dias scored an advantage early with a near back take. The bout stagnated for several minutes in the guard, before an explosion in the final seconds which earned another advantage for Dias.
Super Heavyweight
1 Gabrieli Pessanha (Infight) def 2 Isabely Lemos (GF Team) via choke from the back
- Gabrieli Pessanha seems to be making it up on the fly at this point in her career. She scored early with an unorthodox hip bump sweep then patiently — almost nonchalantly — passed to the back. From the belly down back mount, she worked under the face for a collar choke, and yet another Pan title.

- After securing an early takedown, Roberto blitzed over the guard and dove onto an armbar in less than one minute, taking out the no.2 seed Marcus Scooby. Scooby protested the tap, but the result was sustained.
