The 2025 IBJJF Pan Championship is in full swing in Kissimmee, Florida and the male brown belts have been stealing the show all day!

The divisions have concluded and that means it is time for the absolute division to take over the mats, and today's brown belt absolute looks like it could be a thriller!

Guilherme Avelino comes in at the number one seed after taking gold in the ultra-heavyweight division. Avelino will certainly be a force in the absolute, especially with the added size he has compared to when he normally competes at super-heavyweight.

After taking bronze in the super-heavyweight division, Natã Tenca has secured the number two seed in the absolute bracket. I believe that Tenca will be looking for redemption in the absolute after falling short of gold in his division. Tenca is one of the toughest brown belts in the world today. Keep an eye out for his straight ankle lock once the action kicks off in the absolute.

There are many notable names in this bracket, but another name I wanted to point out specifically is the #14 seed Eduardo Alves. Alves closed-out with his teammate Danylo Wruck in the medium-heavyweight final. Earlier in the bracket Alves faced off against Marlon Tajik. Tajik was arguably the favorite to win the division going into the bracket before taking a loss to Alves. The IBJJF seeding can be tricky at times, and I don't think Alves' seeding reflects his skill level in this bracket. I think he could be someone we potentially see go on a run in the absolute.
