BJJ Phenom and ADCC Medalist Helena Crevar has been promoted to brown belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu by her Professor John Danaher over the weekend, another step in her journey to the top of the grappling world. Crevar has had a busy 2024, winning gold medals and setting records and now she will get a fresh opportunity in her gi competitions in 2025.

Crevar announced the promotion on her Instagram, as linked below:

I’m truly happy to announce that today I got promoted to brown belt by my professor @danaherjohn! I’m incredibly grateful to Professor John for this promotion and it’s a privilege to train under his guidance. In September I was promoted to purple belt after becoming the youngest finalist at ADCC and being a blue belt for two years, and now becoming a 17 year old brown belt feels incredible. I’m looking forward to growing with the team @newwavejiujitsuhq @danaherjohn @gordonlovesjiujitsu @garrytonon and officially entering the adults brown belt division this January.

Crevar was able to make the ADCC finals in 2024, earning a silver medal and becoming the youngest grappler to ever win a medal at the World Championships. She also won double gold the IBJJF Worlds and No-Gi Worlds, both in the juvenile 2 division. Finally, Helena enters the adult divisions in 2025 - potentially at the European Championships.

Crevar has been training for the last few years under Professor John Danaher in Austin, TX. She is a part of the New Wave Jiu-Jitsu team and still only 17 years old.
