Here’s everything you need to know about the Pedro Marinho vs. Izaak Michell bout that will be part of WNO 25 in Houston on Dec. 4.
Who’s Number One is celebrating 25 editions of unforgettable battles, and the slate for WNO 25 in Houston on Dec. 4 may be one of the best yet.
Among the nearly a dozen matchups for the evening at the Bayou Music Center will be a WNO Men’s Light Heavyweight championship showdown between Pedro Marinho vs. Izaak Michell.
Marinho, a 28-year-old from Brazil, is the reigning champion and will be putting his WNO title on the line for the third time. It will be the first career fight between Marinho and Michell.

Marinho first claimed the WNO light heavyweight title in January 2022. It was his WNO debut, and he defeated previously unbeaten Craig Jones for the inaugural title in their weight class. He has since successfully defended the title on two occasions – February 2023 and November 2023.
Marinho is coming off a disappointing ADCC World Championship that saw him bounced from the -88KG bracket with a shocking first-round loss to Ryan Aitken.
Michell, who is 26 years old and hails from Australia, earned the 2021 IBJJF-No-Gi World title, but it might have been his win in the first season of FloGrappling’s reality show, “Who’s Next,” that forever will be seen as his breakout performance.
He defeated Kyle Chambers to win the crown after a lengthy final bout in July 2022.
In preparing for WNO 25, Michell has studied Marinho’s style by watching past matches, and that has helped formulate a tentative game plan.
At the same time, Michell is known for his effective leg locks, but his evolution as a fighter in recent years has included using more wrestling techniques, too.
Michell also comes into WNO 25 looking for some redemption after a disappointing showing at the ADCC World Championship in August. He was defeated in the first round by Charles Negromonte.
