Pedro Marinho To Defend WNO Championship Against Izaak Michell At WNO 25
Pedro Marinho is set to defend his WNO Light Heavyweight Championship against challenger Izaak Michell at WNO 25, his second defense of his championship.
Pedro Marinho is set to defend his WNO Light Heavyweight Championship against challenger Izaak Michell at WNO 25: Duarte vs Jimenez, his second defense of his championship. This will be the first meeting of these two hard-nosed grapplers who both excel with wrestling, pressure, and grit at the elite levels of the sport. WNO 25: Duarte vs Jimenez will be happening December 4th, 2024, in Houston, TX. Tickets will be available soon.
Pedro Marinho has emerged as one of WNO's stars, winning against some of the biggest names in the sport. He has shown a willingness to take on anyone in any ruleset, and has picked up major wins over Giancarlo Bodoni, Craig Jones, and Rafael Lovato in recent years on the WNO stage. Still, after an early ADCC exit this year, the former IBJJF No-Gi World Open Class Champion is eager to put on a show and get back to his winning ways.
Izaak Michell has become an Australian standout over the last few years, especially after his breakout performance in winning the Who's Next tournament - a bracket that was packed full of grapplers who have become champions and big names. Izaak has developed a style that uses strong wrestling, very technical outside passing, and elite finishing skills from the back to emerge as one of the best on Earth. He will be moving up to 205lbs after usually campaigning at 185lbs for this title opportunity.
This is the first title match announced for WNO 25, and the second match after the main event of Kaynan Duarte vs Roberto Jimenez. More matches will be pouring out this week - including another major championship bout tomorrow.
