Seif Houmine Awarded IBJJF World Title After USADA Tests

Seif Eddine Houmine has been officially awarded the 2024 IBJJF World Championship after originally taking bronze, thanks to the adverse testing results that disqualified both original finalists. Because of Yatan Bueno and Pedro Alex's positive USADA tests, Seif is now the recognized champion at black belt men's ultra-heavy for this year.

The new podium, removing the former finalists:

  • Gold - Seif-Eddine Houmine
  • Silver - Guilherme Augusto
  • Bronze - Kjetil Lydvo
  • Bronze - Helder Jose

This is Houmine's first black belt World Championship. He is the first athlete from Morocco to win a black belt title, and only the second ever from Africa (after 1997's Joao Roque). Originally Seif lost to Yatan Bueno by DQ in the semifinals, racking up repeated penalties for a defensive belt grip.
