About a week after his girlfriend Amit Elor won a gold medal at the Paris Olympics, Mica Galvao won gold at what is sometimes called "the Olympics of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu." 

Galvao made Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu history on Aug. 18 becoming just the second person in the history of the sport to complete the IBJJF Grand Slam and an ADCC World Championship in the same year, also known as the "Super Grand Slam."

He won the -77KG championship with a win over veteran Vagner Rocha at T-Mobile Arena In Las Vegas. 

Galvao joins the legendary Rubens "Cobrinha" Charles as the only person to accomplish the feat and is doing it 17 years earlier than Charles, who completed the feat in 2017 at the age of 37.

Galvao, the WNO Welterweight champion, won a tough match to advance to the finals over PJ Barch. That match ended in a judges decision. Against Rocha, 22 years his senior, Galvao completed the feat by submitting Rocha with about 90 seconds left in the match via a rear naked choke. 

Rocha's two children, Jasmine and Achilles, also competed at ADCC. He was attempting to become the oldest person to ever win an ADCC World Champions.
